He planned out the class perfectly, it was both challenging and interesting, he marked everything fairly and gave great feedback from which I found myself improving each week. The knowledge I gained from this course became applicable in each and every class as well as in my daily life. He is easy to understand and did not just follow from a textbook he gave us real articles and provided useful knowledge.

Reflections on Online Teaching

I have been teaching courses regularly online since COVID forced us out of the classrooms in March of 2020. With technology being a critical tool for learning during this time, I wanted to ensure that students could use Blackboard and Zoom with ease and with little confusion, and with using their consistent feedback, and ideas from other Trent faculty and IT, I was able to provide a learning experience that used tech as a useful tool, and not be a burden. I found that some students still desire the “face-to-face” interaction with the teacher, and hosting live Webinars still enabled some sense of connectivity of a classroom. Being considered for this award is very humbling, and it has indicated and reassured me that my teaching style is making a positive impact on students, and contributing to helping them succeed in future learning, career, and leadership opportunities.
